Spine & TB spondylodiscitis

What is a Spinal cold abscess?

Tuberculosis is a chronic infection that can affect nearly any part of the body, with the spine being the most commonly affected bone. The pus formed as a result of this infection is referred to as a cold abscess, as it does not trigger significant inflammation in the surrounding tissues. Tuberculosis-related damage to the spine typically occurs around the intervertebral discs, leading to a condition known as tubercular spondylodiscitis. This damage can result in spinal deformities such as kyphosis or cause neural deficits.
