MIS tubular internal decompression is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat severe lumbar canal stenosis. This condition can cause debilitating leg pain and difficulties with walking – neurogenic claudication, greatly impacting a patient’s quality of life. The procedure involves removing excess tissue, such as hypertrophied facets and ligamentum flavum, to create more space for the spinal nerves. Additionally, any prolapsed disc is also removed to further decompress the nerves. This entire process is done through a small keyhole using specialized tubes and a microscope, making it less invasive than traditional surgeries.

What sets this technique more advanced is that, Dr Ramachandran decompresses bother sides of the nerves from just one side, reducing the need for multiple incisions and minimizing recovery time. Overall, MIS tubular internal decompression offers patients a more efficient and less traumatic solution for alleviating the symptoms of severe lumbar canal stenosis.
