What do tilted shoulders in teenage kids indicate?
Tilted shoulders in growing children, especially teenage girls, could be a sign of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. The Adam’s forward bending test is a simple screening method anyone can perform. In this test, the child bends forward to knee level while being observed from behind. In a normal child, both scapular wings will appear symmetrical. However, if there is underlying scoliosis, an asymmetrical bump, known as a rib hump, will be visible on one side of the back.
