Spine & Lhermitte sign

What Is Lhermitte’s Sign in Cervical Spine Conditions?

Lhermitte’s sign is a sudden, electric shock-like sensation that travels from the neck down the spine and limbs when the neck is extended or bent backward.
It often indicates cervical spinal cord compression, commonly seen in cervical canal stenosis like spondylosis, OPLL, Disc prolapse etc. This symptom suggests myelopathy, a serious spinal cord condition that may require surgical treatment to prevent further nerve damage.
