What are the early symptoms of cervical spinal cord compression ?

Cervical myelopathy is a condition marked by significant compression/stenosis of the spinal cord in the neck. Early symptoms include numbness in the hands, changes in handwriting, difficulty grasping a pen, trouble buttoning shirts, and challenges with mixing food. Although commonly seen in the elderly due to cervical spondylosis, it can occur at any age.
