What are Schmorl’s nodes?

Schmorl’s nodes are formed when the disc material from the spine protrudes into the vertebral bones. This is similar to how cream squeezed between biscuits can push through the biscuit’s pores. Such disc prolapses into the bones can lead to acute back pain and are referred to as Schmorl’s nodes.
