What is Torticollis?
Torticollis, often referred to as “wry neck,” is a condition where the neck twists or tilts involuntarily to one side, resulting in an abnormal posture. It can either be congenital or develop later in life. Congenital torticollis typically occurs due to the contraction of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, often associated with forceps delivery during childbirth. Acquired torticollis may arise from muscle spasms caused by inflamed lymph nodes in the neck, cervical disc prolapse, odontoid fractures, or C1-2 atlantoaxial dislocations.
