What is spondylolisthesis?

Spondylolisthesis refers to the forward slipping of one vertebral bone over the one beneath it. This condition, also known as anterolisthesis, typically involves the vertebra moving forward. This misalignment affects the spinous processes, and when the area is touched from the back, it may feel like a noticeable “step” in the back. Additionally, the slippage can exert pressure on nearby nerves, potentially causing symptoms like sciatica.
