Spine & Paraplegia

What is Spinal paraplegia?

Spinal paraplegia refers to paralysis of the lower half of the body due to damage or dysfunction in the spinal cord. It typically results from spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, or congenital conditions, affecting movement and sensation in the legs. Depending on the severity, it can be complete (total loss of function) or incomplete (partial movement or sensation remains). Individuals may experience muscle weakness, loss of bladder control, and chronic pain. While there is no cure, rehabilitation, physical therapy, and assistive devices can help improve mobility and quality of life.
